Hearts of Joy International is a non-profit that provides life saving heart surgery for individuals with Down syndrome as well as providing resources, support and education to communities, orphanages, caregivers and parents on the inherent dignity and value of the child. Hearts of Joy International is dedicated to serving children with Down syndrome around the globe in India, Mexico, Uganda, the Philippines and right here in the United States. They have teamed up for the Hug4Hearts campaign with Tim Harris- an entrepreneur and the first person with Down syndrome to own and operate a restaurant called Tim’s Place in Albuquerque New Mexico. The restaurant was known for more than just food, it was also famous for Tim’s hugs! Tim has hugged everyone from Barack and Michelle Obama to Stevie Wonder. Tim was born on January 21st, which just so happens to be National Hug Day. When Tim owned his restaurant, he dedicated his birthday weekend to raising money for a local charity through a “Hug-a -Thon." This year, Tim wanted to do something extra special to spread joy and help children in need around the world. We thought, what better way to spread some joy than to relaunch the Hug A Thon through a global social media campaign with Hearts of Joy International!
